I grew up on a farm in western Nebraska, where my love of nature and interest in art found their beginning. My camera and sketchbook were with me at all times. Capturing the brief moments of the setting sun to a ladybug on a flower was a good day for me. It still is.
I started my college studies at Concordia University where I majored in commercial art. Realizing this wasn’t the direction for me I transferred to Chadron State College graduating with a degree in Art Education. I did not pursue my degree at that time as I spent several years raising my three boys. Within the last ten years I have been able to focus on creating artwork which has brought me so much joy.
A few of the places my work has been shown include the Noyes Gallery in Lincoln Nebraska, Tru Café, Kearney Wine and Jazz festival, Good Samaritan Hospital’s Walkway Gallery and the Cattleman’s Ball of Nebraska. Brickwalk Gallery in Kearney has also hung a few of my pieces.
My preferred subject matter leans toward vibrant colored landscapes, old abandoned cars, animals and almost all things nature related. I work in the mediums of pastel and acrylic with some watercolor thrown into the mix. Most of my work is commission and freelance.
I have lived in Kearney for 17 years with my husband Guy. My sons Andrew, Cody and Gabe have all moved on to their own adventures. I consider my family my greatest blessing and my biggest supporters.
Kearney Creates takes pleasure in presenting samples of Dani’s work, works that make us take a second look at the familiar at the same time they make viewers not so familiar with the Great Plains become acquainted with us and our place.
